Monday nights in New York City are quiet. It’s an opportunity to experience new and exciting city adventures, restaurants and events. Vince and I are most often in the city for the beginning of the week and enjoy together a new experience. Every month one of us will plan a Monday evening: Another Vince idea, just because! Simpatico!
Vince’s plan – Scalini Fedeli for dinner in Tribeca on Duane Street.
Scalini Fedeli is a fine Northern Italian restaurant, impeccable but warm service, beautiful atmosphere and a fabulous menu. Zagat’s says, “a powerhouse, remarkable wines, exemplary service add-up to an unforgettable, romantic experience.” Prix fixe only at $75, means a choice of a Primo course, Mezzo course and Dolce course. Well worth it!!!
As often goes with such fine restaurants, there are tastings, compliments of the chef. Our waiter presented a mushroom ravioli with a creamed truffle sauce. My appetizer was a shrimp francese with fresh figs and beets and Vince enjoyed a penne pasta with a mushroom brown sauce. Delizioso!
Mushroom ravioli Shrimp francese with figs & beets Penne pasta with brown sauce
So many choices for the mezzo course: pasta, risotto, veal, chicken, duck, pork and beef. Vince went out of the box and ordered a veal chop, medium rare. Wow! I stayed with one of my favorite fish meals, halibut. Superb all around. Before receiving our entree, we were offered another wonderful tasting of an agnoletti pasta with a butter sauce and a fennel salad.
Troppo bene!
Very generous portions, very exceptional food, a very awesome Monday night experience. The dessert menu was extensive and the chef offered two sweet tastings: a chocolate biscotti and also a sorbet dessert. We truly splurged with our dolce course. I had a caramel gelato with honey glazed crisps and Vince ordered 3 flavors of gelato. Centanni wishes from chef Michael Cetrulo and the wait staff, even though my birthday was two months ago and well celebrated.
Buon Appetit
